Cartoon Oscars found their owners for the 36th time

The “Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition an, which brought together cartoons and cartoonists from all over the world on a free platform of thought, was concluded. Cartoon masters who came together in Istanbul, Agim Sulaj (Albania) caricature awarded first prize.

583 artists from 63 countries participated in the 36th edition of the Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition, which was described as Os the Oscars of the cartoon world “by the authorities from all over the world, with works shedding light on the agenda. 165 caricatures of 118 artists from 33 pre-selected countries were evaluated by the International Selection Committee.

This year Selcuk Demirel was the chairman of the competition, where 85,000 works of more than 8,800 artists from 137 countries participated, and Anita Kunz (Canada), Ercan Akyol, Jaume Capdevila KAP (Spain), Latif Demirci, Peter Ruge (Germany), Piyale Madra, Tan Oral and Yoshiaki Yokota (Japan).

“Strong Girls, Strong Tomorrow” Special Award

The winners of the first prize and the special prize will be awarded with 8.000 USD, the second prize with 3.500 USD and the third prize with 1,500 USD. The three award-winning artists will receive US $ 500 each.

The awards and achievements of all the artists will be presented at a ceremony in Istanbul in June.

Who is Agim Sulaj?

He was born in 1960 in Tirana, Albania. In 1985, he graduated from Tirana Art Academy. In the same year, he started working for the political and satire magazine Hosteni. Realizing his talent at an early age, he was interested in art, especially painting. In his hyperrealist (photorealistic) cartoons, he focuses on major social and political issues of the 21st century, such as poverty, environmental pollution, and the life of immigrants. In 1993, for the first time, he exhibited his works from the communist period in his personal exhibition ‘Rally di Rimini’ in Italy. He settled in Rimini. He opened many exhibitions and his caricatures were accepted to museums. These cartoons of the artist were accepted to museums. Who is Mojmir Mihatov?

He was born in 1952 in Zadar, Croatia. After graduating from art school, he began his career at the Zadar Puppet Theater. His first caricature was published in 1968. Mihatov participated in many national and international competitions and was awarded more than 80 prizes in competitions organized in many centers such as Belgrade, Tokyo, Iraq, Morocco and Porto.

Who is Ömer Çam?

Ömer Çam was born in 1965 in Selçuk. She graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphics. He started caricature at the age of 18. Starting from 1991, he worked as a graphic designer, art director and art director at various advertising agencies in Izmir and Istanbul. He also drew and worked in humor magazines. Ömer Çam, whose work was awarded in several competitions, lives in İzmir.
